Alan S. Laufer

Alan Laufer is a highly-experienced attorney with over forty years of experience in trusts and estates, tax, accounting and related areas of the law. He specializes in all aspects of estate planning, estate administration, litigation in the surrogate's courts, and laws affecting charitable organizations. Mr. Laufer's practice includes drafting and structuring complex wills, trusts, agreements and other estate planning documents; representing executors, trustees and beneficiaries in difficult estate administration issues; and representing fiduciaries before the Internal Revenue Service and state tax authorities in connection with estate and gift tax issues. He has successfully litigated will contests, disputed estate administrations and accountings, and actions against fiduciaries. Mr. Laufer has represented fiduciaries and beneficiaries of estates and trusts ranging in value from several hundred million dollars to relatively modest values. Mr. Laufer diverse experience includes eighteen years as an attorney in the trusts and estates group of a major midtown law firm. Mr. Laufer earned his B.A. degree in Geology from The State University of New York at Binghamton, his M.S. degree in Accounting from Syracuse University, his J.D. degree from Syracuse University College of Law and his LL.M. in Taxation degree from New York University School of Law. Mr. Laufer is both an attorney and a Certified Public Accountant in New York. Mr. Laufer is the father of grown triplets. His interests include amateur radio, astronomy and hiking.
